Some tips to solve the problem!

Instagram is one of the most popular social network channels and has gained many more followers using stories, which add new resources every day to improve the user experience. One of them has undoubtedly been the option to add music, but why doesn’t Instagram Stories let you add music?

At 3Metas, we manage multiple accounts and therefore look at many different categories. A few months ago, overnight, we stopped seeing the “Music” sticker option in stories; So we set out to investigate the causes and solutions, and here is a summary of what we discovered. We hope this helps!

PERSONAL ACCOUNT

These may be some of the reasons why Instagram music is not available on your account:

  1. You don’t have the latest version of Instagram. Update the app.
  2. Some songs are not available in the Instagram library.
  3. Your country has not yet activated music on Instagram.
  4. You have been punished for fraudulent actions on Instagram. They would let you know.
  5. You have a lousy internet connection. Check the connection.

In theory, if your account is a personal one and you are being prevented from putting music into your stories with any of the options mentioned earlier, you should be able to solve this problem.

BUSINESS ACCOUNT

It was our case in 3Metas and in the other accounts that we manage; since they were all classified as Business accounts, Instagram music (to this day) is not available for some kinds of accounts, depending on your type of company.

What is the category in which you have your account? It is where the key and the solution to the lack of sound in your stories are.

The category that you must select in your account is Community, Personal blog, or creator. It also works with other types, but these are the ones that we have investigated that do work.

To change the category of your account, you must follow these steps:

  • Go to your Profile
  • Edit Category
  • Choose Community / Personal blog / Creator
  • You will have to wait about 2-5 days, and the music sticker will appear again on your Instagram.

A significant detail is that you must also change the category on your Facebook page associated with that Instagram account.

If you don’t want to change your business account’s category, an alternative option is to open a Tik Tok account. Choose the image or video you wanted to use in your story, add music, stickers, etc.; in the end, Tik Tok will ask you to share it on your Instagram account. When this happens, you take the option to share it in your Feed or your Story. It is another easy way to solve this problem and continue to share your content stories with music.
